candied bacon

candied bacon

my mom’s recipe

1 16 oz pack of bacon
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp cayenne pepper

preheat oven to 375 degrees.   in a bowl, mix together brown sugar and cayenne pepper (add more pepper if you would like a little more kick)!  place a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet (VERY IMPORTANT – we had a bad experience with putting this directly on the pan). take each piece of bacon and dip it into the sugar mixture.  as you are placing it on the pan, twist the bacon so it looks like a ribbon.  bake in oven for 30 minutes or so.  check them periodically to make sure the ends don’t burn!  remove from oven and loosen each piece when cooling so they do not stick the the wax paper.  serve immediately!
